Rapper Lil Jon, who urged voters to head to the polls for the midterm elections with his reworked song, “Turn Out for What,” says he’s not sure which potential candidate he’ll turn out for in 2016.
“I don’t know yet,” the “Crunk Rock” entertainer and President Obama supporter told ITK Monday at Hot 99.5’s Jingle Ball 2014. The concert at Washington’s Verizon Center brought out some of the biggest names in pop music, including Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, and Rita Ora.
“I’m still weighing my options out,” Lil Jon added with a smile that flashed his shiny grill.
The Rock the Vote spokesman, whose election-themed remix was based on his mega-hit last year with DJ Snake, “Turn Down for What,” went the extra mile to cast his ballot in November. After saying on Instagram that he never received his absentee ballot from his home district in Atlanta, Lil Jon hopped on an Election Day flight there from Los Angeles.
The chart-topper also got a high-profile homage to his song from Michelle Obama earlier this year. The first lady, while promoting her healthy eating “Let’s Move” initiative, released a parody on Vine of his song, called “Turnip for What.”
