Nearly two-thousand miles across the coast, SKAM Artist DJ Turbulence has been shaking the stage with his fire mixes in Las Vegas. Blending the hottest hip-hop with reggae, rock and house music, his eclectic tracks never fail to turn heads and pack dance floors. And 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, he heads to Haven at Golden Nugget Atlantic City.
Turbulence finds the balance between mainstream and underground with ease. “I’ll use something familiar with something that hasn’t yet surfaced and fuse it together to create something the audience has never heard before,” he says.
Instead of soccer in junior high, young Tim Alejandro — the name he goes by when not spinning — found solace in music. DJing had piqued his interest by the age of 13. “I was too young to be in the venues alone, so some of my older friends would sneak me into the clubs and I’d roll with them,” he says. The pull that drew him to that scene was both gravitational and inescapable.
